Trump signs order confirming parts of UK US tariff
deal

What Is This UK-US Tariff Deal

On June 16, 2025, former U.S. President Donald Trump signed parts of a trade deal
between the UK and the US. This deal is meant to make trade easier, especially for cars and
airplanes
made in the UK.

     What Has Been Approved?

      1. UK Cars Get Easier Access to the US

  • The US will now allow 100,000 UK cars per year with reduced tax (tariff).

  • The tariff has been cut from 27.5% to just 10%.

  • This is great news for car companies like Jaguar Land Rover.

     2. Aerospace Products Face No More Blocks

  • UK companies like Rolls-Royce can now sell aircraft parts to the US more freely.

  • There will be no extra checks or taxes on these exports.

What Is Still Not Final?

      1. Steel and Aluminum Still Under Tariff

  • UK steel still faces a 25–50% import tax in the US.

  • Trump said talks are happening, but no final decision yet.

  • This affects big exporters like Tata Steel.

What Did the UK Give in Return?

  • The UK will now allow more American beef – from 1,000 to 13,000 tons per year.

  • However, hormone-treated beef is still not allowed in the UK.

  • The US can also export more ethanol and industrial goods to Britain.

What Happens Next?

  • The order will be active within 7 days (by June 23, 2025).

  • Talks about steel and aluminum are expected to finish by late July.

     Quick Summary Table:

Sector Status Details
Cars    Tariff cut to 10% 100,000 cars per year allowed
Aircraft Parts    Approved No more trade restrictions
Steel/Aluminum    Still taxed Deal still in discussion
Beef Imports    Increased Hormone beef still not allowed

Final Words

This deal is a positive step for UK-US trade.
Car and airplane companies are already seeing benefits.
But the final decision on steel and aluminum is still pending.

Will this deal become a full success?
We’ll find out in the coming weeks.
