Attack in Pahalgam:
Recently, a terrible terrorist attack happened in Pahalgam, Kashmir. It killed 28 tourists,
most of them Hindus. The attackers asked people their religion before shooting. After this, many
people in India got angry—and sadly, Kashmiri Muslims living in other states are being
blamed and targeted.
What’s Happening to Kashmiris in Other States?
-
In Dehradun, a leader from a group said all Kashmiris should leave the city.
-
In Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, some landlords told Kashmiris to leave their rented homes.
-
Shopkeepers refused to sell them anything.
-
Kashmiri students were beaten or threatened. Many ran to the airport to escape.
-
Even Kashmiri women and girls were harassed and scared to go outside.
What Are People Saying?
Kashmiris are feeling very unsafe. One student said, “We’re too scared to return to college.”
Another said, “We didn’t do anything wrong. Why are we being punished?”
What Is the Government Doing?
The government condemned the terror attack and blamed Pakistan.
But many feel the government isn’t doing enough to stop the hate against innocent
Kashmiris. Some groups and human rights activists are asking the government to help and
protect them.
In Simple Words:
Innocent Kashmiris are being treated badly after a terrorist attack they had nothing to do with.
They are scared, hurt, and feel alone. Everyone deserves to feel safe—no matter where they’re
from.
