Bridge Collapse in Maharashtra Pune
District 2 Dead, Many Injured

    June 15, 2025 – Kundmala, Pune (Maharashtra)
    A sad accident happened in Maharashtra’s Kundmala village near Pune. An old bridge over the
Indrayani River suddenly broke and fell down. Because of this, 2 people died and more than 30
people got injured.

  How Did This Happen?

    On that day, many people were standing on the bridge. Some were tourists taking photos of the
river, and some were just passing by. Suddenly, the bridge broke and people fell into the fast-
flowing river.

    Locals say 50 to 100 people were on the bridge when it collapsed.

Lives Lost & Injuries

• 2 people lost their lives

• 32 people were hurt

• 6 people are in very serious condition

• Only 6 people have been rescued so far

• Many are still missing in the river

Rescue Teams Are Working

     The NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), local police, and fire teams came quickly to help.
They are using boats and divers to search for missing people.

     Rescue work is still going on.

   People Had Warned Earlier

     Local villagers had already said many times that the bridge was weak and needed repair. But no
action was taken. Because of the heavy rain, the river was full and flowing very fast. That made
the situation worse.

What Did the Government Say?

• CM Devendra Fadnavis visited the place and met with the victims’ families.

• Deputy CM Eknath Shinde said all old bridges in Maharashtra will now be checked.

• The government has promised to help injured people and their families.

   Why This Is Serious

     This is not the first time a bridge has collapsed in India. In 2022, a bridge fell in Gujarat’s Morbi
town and 141 people died.

     India needs to take better care of old bridges and other important places so these accidents don’t
happen again.

   Final Words

     This is a very sad moment for all of us. Two families lost their loved ones. Many people are hurt
and scared.

     We hope that the rescue teams can find the missing people. And we also hope that the
government will fix old bridges so such accidents don’t happen in the future.
