Firefighters still at the scene of large cross-border gorse fire

Firefighters
Firefighters are still working hard to put out a large gorse fire that has spread across two border areas. The fire started yesterday afternoon and quickly grew because of dry weather and strong winds.

Fire teams from both sides of the border are working together. Fire engines, water tankers, and helicopters are also being used to help the firefighters on the ground.

The fire is burning in a hilly and forested area, which makes it hard to reach. So far, no injuries have been reported, but some people have been moved from their homes for safety.

A fire officer said:
“The area is rough and hard to reach, but our team is doing their best to control the fire.”

Firefighters
People are being told to stay away from the area and to report any signs of fire immediately. The cause of the fire is not confirmed yet, but it may have started because of a cigarette or an unattended campfire.

Local people are helping the firefighters by providing food, water, and shelter. Environmental experts are worried that the fire could harm plants and animals in the area.

Firefighters are expected to stay for another 1–2 days to make sure the fire is completely out.
