     What Did Pete Hegseth Do?

In early 2025, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth got into trouble for sharing secret military        plans in a private chat group on the app Signal.

This group wasn’t official—it included his wife, brother, and lawyer. None of them were part of
the government or military, which made this a serious issue.

    What Was Shared?

Hegseth told them about upcoming U.S. attacks in Yemen. He shared very detailed plans      like:

  • The exact time jets would take off

  • When drones would reach targets

  • When the first bombs would be dropped

This type of info is supposed to be top secret to protect soldiers and missions.

Why Is It a Big Deal?

This wasn’t the first time he did this. Earlier, he had accidentally added a journalist to
another Signal group where he also talked about military plans.

Because of these leaks, the media started calling it “Signalgate.”

     What Happened Next?

  • Congress is now investigating him

  • Some politicians are asking for his resignation

  • People are worried this could have put lives at risk

  • The White House is trying to stay calm, but the pressure is growing

     Summary

Pete Hegseth, a top U.S. official, shared secret war plans with people who weren’t allowed to      know them. He did it using a private chat on his phone. Now, he’s facing serious questions
about national security and could lose his job.
